What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall is widely praised as a fantastic venue with excellent acoustics and a positive atmosphere, largely due to its community-focused non-profit operation. While seating can be limited and expensive, the friendly staff and enjoyable shows make it a highly recommended spot for live music.
"I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This is such a good venue, and will always have a special spot in my heart because I saw my first live show in it. It was actually closed for the longest time, closing in 2001 and returning in 2016 thanks to the Berkeley Music Group, a nonprofit organization who also runs intetnship programs. Just for that alone, I think you should come here. The only thing i dislike about the venue is the seating can be a little uncomfortable, and it's definitely limited. It's available based on first-come basis, though I think you can reserve the first row on some shows; can't imagine that's cheap. So unless you're lucky or super early, be ready to stand up. The food and drinks are also expensive, as expected of most live venues. Those things aside, the shows themselves are extremely enjoyable, and the staff running them are friendly as heck. Highly recommended!"

"BERTHA-Grateful Drag show in Berkeley. So much fun and great staff! Wonderful acoustics and many places sit or dance. Can't wait to go back!"

"For a music venue, it's a beautiful building. It was my first time coming here for a concert. Sound was OK. Area is questionable. Several people got their cars broken into while at the venue. Drink prices are ridiculous. 7 dollars for a cup of ice with a shot of soda. Will be back. Just be careful of the area and know it's expensive to drink there. Staff was friendly. There are plenty of good places to eat near the venue. There is no ins and out during the concert unless it is smoking."
