Where to see creatures in tide pools?
Hello! I love seeing little creatures in tide pools and would like some suggestions on the best places to go near Portland. I went to the Fort Williams light house and there wasn’t much there. Any other tips/tricks are welcome. Thanks!

Reviews Summary
Middle Beach Biddeford is lauded as a 'hidden gem' offering a peaceful and uncrowded beach experience, a stark contrast to busier tourist spots. Visitors appreciate the wide shoreline, scenic views, and the chance to explore tide pools. However, the lack of permanent restrooms and the cost/hassle of parking permits are noted drawbacks.
"Went looking for sea glass as it was advertised as one of several beaches along Maine coast. Did not find any. Nice beach and plenty of portapotties."

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hidden Gem – Best Beach in Southern Maine
I’ve been to all the big-name beaches — Old Orchard, Saco, Hampton, York — and while they all have their charm, Middle Beach at Biddeford Pool blew me away. It’s not just another stretch of sand; it’s a place that feels like you’ve stumbled on a secret worth keeping.
Yes, you need a permit to park, but trust me — it’s worth it. That extra step keeps the crowds down, and it shows. The beach is wide, peaceful, and unpopulated compared to the tourist-packed hot spots. You actually get room to breathe, to think, to enjoy the ocean without being shoulder to shoulder with strangers.
The view? Unforgettable. Waves rolling in steady, fish literally jumping out of the water, and plenty of shoreline to walk and explore. If you’re into hunting for rocks and sea treasures, this beach is a dream. I caught myself just standing there, watching the horizon, realizing this was hands down my favorite beach on the coast.
Maybe the waves were extra strong because of a hurricane that had come through, but even without that, the energy of this place felt different — powerful, yet peaceful.
If you want a quiet, beautiful, almost untouched beach experience in Southern Maine, skip the carnival rides and boardwalks. Head to Middle Beach at Biddeford Pool. It’s the kind of place you remember long after you leave."
