Visitors find it a peaceful escape, though access can be challenging, with some roads requiring 4WD and others necessitating a moderate hike. Despite the access hurdles, most agree the stunning scenery is well worth the effort.
"This is such a beautiful place! it's like a meadow and a lake all rolled into one. Green grass, blue skies, and white clouds!
I believe you used to be able to get here through an off road trial. Now, I believe the main way to get here is through the castle rock trail.
We saw quite a few woman hiking this trail, so I don't believe it's that dangerous up here, they must be locals. There is a private property at the other side of the lake and a cool cabin that I believe is part of a historic site."

"5 STARS, BUT BE CAREFUL! This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited but do not do this the way I did. You can’t just click on directions and drive to this trail. The road is in very bad repair and you need an SUV or truck to get up. I did this drive in a sedan and white knuckled it the whole time at 2mph. The way google tells you to go, there is no parking. I just happened to find a cleared spot on the side of the road. Please plan ahead and make sure you can make it to the lake before you try to visit!
That being said, this is the most pristine, gorgeous place I’ve ever visited. Huge evergreens, large boulders, ferns, a lake in the mountains, endless birds, sunshine and huge meadows. This is a paradise and well worth visiting if you plan well. Some other commenters recommended a better way to reach this destination, lodgepoll something or other. Follow this advice!"

"Bluff Lake is beautiful and well worth the visit. Some remnants and old cabins remain.
While you can drive close with a 4-wheel drive vehicle, we opted to hike from the Castle Rock Trail to Bluff Lake. The hike is moderate to difficult, so I'd recommend bringing hiking sticks, snacks, and plenty of water. Depending on your pace, the roundtrip takes about 2 to 4 hours."
