What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the James River Footbridge for its beautiful river views and the unique experience of crossing a section of the Appalachian Trail. The charming bridge and tranquil atmosphere are highlights, though the small, often crowded parking lot and narrow trails can be drawbacks for some.
"The parking lot was a little small so get there early to find a spot. The bridge is beautiful as you cross the James river and there were even people swimming which I thought was cool. Trails were narrow one way path that made things a little cramped as you try to pass other hikers. Overall great experience and will be hiking there again."

"Bridges are cool so foot bridges are even cooler. After hiking the AT, it is cool to cross this bridge. The one thing that was less than cool was trying to park there during peak hours as there are lots of people enjoying the bridge (rightfully so). So in planning a section hike where I needed to park and leave my car, I had to wait out a parking spot. Still worth it."

"Entrance into parking lot is in a blind curve with some large potholes when coming from Lynchburg heading towards Glasgow; Be careful. The foot bridge is definitely an experience you will never forget. To get to the bridge itself, you walk under the train track. Walking even part of the Appalachian Trail truly makes you respect the people who hike the entire trail. 👏🏽"
