Parking & Access

Parking is available along the narrow road, but can be tight, especially during peak season. While the road offers some accessibility, reaching the rocky shoreline for closer water access or picnics may be challenging for those with mobility issues.

Thinking about popping the question...anyone have insight into the area that would be super epic during sundown?

How busy is Boothbay/Reid State Park this time of year?

Popham was full an hour after it opened yesterday. Reid was nearly full as at mid day. Reid is definitely the less busy park but it has the most biting flies.

🪨 Mind the Rocks

The shoreline is rocky. Wear sturdy shoes if you plan to explore close to the water.

Reviews Summary

Grimes Cove Beach is cherished for its scenic beauty, opportunities for sea glass hunting, and peaceful, secluded atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the free access and the stunning ocean views, though some note the parking can be tight and the rocky terrain challenging for accessibility.

"We came here in the winter and it was still very beautiful but very windy and cold. We were trying to find sea glass on the beach and I'm sure there was some but it was hard to find and way too cold to look for long. We didn't do the ocean point walk but we came to the beach. Along the road for the beach there's tons of rocks you can climb on to get closer to the water and potential places you can sit on rocks to have a picnic. There's a few cottages and hotels along the road if you want to book them in the summer or fall. They are very close to the water, definitely peaceful little area. It's pretty secluded and plenty of water views.

The road is a little small and you have to be careful driving it. I'm sure kids are all over the road in the summer so pay attention to your surroundings. There's no fee for parking, wheelchair access is probably okay around the road but you'll never get a wheelchair down near the rocks. Parking is tight but you can pull to the side of the road and park. Theres a beautiful old church on the road across from the water, one of the prettiest churches i've ever seen. Plenty of photo opportunities. We will be back during peak hours for sea glass!

Overall, 4 stars! "
