Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Boston Latin School Site and Benjamin Franklin Statue to be valuable historical stops along the Freedom Trail, appreciating the significance of America's first public school and the iconic statue. Some reviewers noted that it's easy to miss the statue if not paying close attention, and there's a sentiment of disappointment regarding the commercialization of the historic Old City Hall.

"The whole site is wonderful. The old Boston City Hall is beautiful, and the statue of Ben Franklin and the marker for the old Latin School were great to see. They represent the amazing history of Boston and our Nation. Another excellent stop on the Freedom Trail."

Evan Whiting

"We visited on a Wednesday morning in mid-June 2025. We were doing this as part of the Freedom Trail and we did not actually go inside but we stopped outside to read the signage and take some pictures. There are so many things to see on the Trail it can be daunting.

For some reason I swear the only part of this stop was the marker in the ground and this ornate brick work. It wasn't until AFTER we left and I was reviewing the pictures and going wait... where is the rest of it. My wife informed me that the statue and building was right there next to us but I completely missed it and ONLY saw this marking in the side walk. We were going so fast trying to complete the entire trail in the better part of a day that I completely missed an entire building. I guess I'll have to come back and do the trail again."

David L.

"Standing in front of Boston's Old City Hall is this 8-foot bronze statue of famous patriot Benjamin Franklin (who was himself a native of Boston). The statue has been standing since 1856 and is one of many iconic landmarks you'll encounter during your Freedom Trail walk.

I've included images of both the Benjamin Franklin statue, as well as the Old City Hall (which is located behind it)."
