Best beginner day hikes?
Hey everyone! I've lived here for a while now and have never fully taken advantage of the incredible beautifully amazing metro parks system. My girlfriend and I are not avid hikers (nor are we super in shape, oops) but we love to be outdoors in the fall. I'm looking for a hike…

Wildflowers in a MetroPark?
I’m looking for a field, a patch, maybe even just a bed of wildflowers in a metropark or someplace public. My cat has terminal kidney failure. When I give her fluids and medicine, I play Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers.” I want her to be among the wildflowers (“somewhere you feel…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Brecksville Nature Center for its accessible trails and engaging, self-guided nature center experience, especially for families. The beautiful scenery and opportunities for bird watching are frequently highlighted. Some find the nature center exhibits modest, and certain trails can be challenging or prone to thorny undergrowth.
"Lovely little nature center where we have been so many times I cannot count and will be back. The staff at the desk will answer questions, but it’s a self-guided experience. Kids can touch almost everything …with the exception of caged and preserved animals. There are a few live animals (snake, turtle and frog). Sometimes they have a chrysalis or butterfly. The viewing window to bird-watch is good area with rocking chairs, plus the squirrels and chipmunks make an appearance. It’s right on the Wildflower trail which is good for wheelchairs/strollers or little legs for an easy hike. Or if you want a challenging hike, go the opposite direction, past the bird feeders (I forget the other name), go down at least 25 steps to the creek, cross a small bridge and back up the hillside with steps. It also does loop back around. I appreciate trails that loop around vs having to back track the way you came. Enjoy!!!"

"Truly one of the best nature preserve areas in the country! They also have absolutely the best bathrooms heated in the winter, air conditioned in the summer it's indescribable how pleasant it is and we're talking about a bathroom so imagine how nice everything else is beautifully kept trails interesting landscapes challenging hikes simply a must see."

"The nature center itself is quite humble, with not many exciting exhibits but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions. In the colder months, they do offer the opportunity to feed several kinds of birds, including chickadees and nuthatches. In addition to the nature center, the reservation offers many beautiful trails that vary in difficulty. It's definitely worth a visit!"
