Best Chicago Public Library branches?
I'm right near the uptown branch, which is fine but nothing special. Harold Washington is obviously pretty awesome, but what are some of the other really great CPL branches out in the neighborhoods? Thanks for all the good answers, guys.

Any places to hang out/chill/get work done Southside?
Every Wednesday I teach class at a school that’s right around Garfield Park. From there I have to go to a class further south. I can’t really find a neighborhood name, but it’s a little south of what Apple Maps tells me is Washington Heights. It’s right around where the 57 meets…

Visitors praise the Bridgeport Public Library Downtown for its helpful and friendly staff, particularly their assistance with computer functions. The bookshop and well-arranged second-floor displays are also noted as pleasant features. "Only went to the bookshop. Didn't have time for the rest though I do have a Bridgeport Library card. I mostly use it digitally due to my being at work when the library is open. Had some days off so I took a ride. Scott was very nice"

"This past Saturday, December 16 I attended a conference workshop and everything was amazing up until the time that it was to leave. The facilitator was wrapping up and bringing the event to the clothes when a female security officer abruptly came in and just let her know that we needed to leave. Now there wasn’t a smile. There wasn’t any warm it was making everyone feel like they were thrown out, even though it is the policy of the library to close at a certain time, but the delivery the tone and the mannerisms were horrendous. As amazing as the conference was the residue of feeling offended, disrespected, and being treated rudely Has left a very disappointed feeling. There are many ways to have people, comply with policies and procedures. This young lady did not have the desire or care, and that is very disappointing."

"I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an unfortunate incident that occurred during an event I hosted at the Bridgeport Library on 12/16. The incident involves the unacceptable conduct of one of your security staff members, which greatly impacted the positive atmosphere of our gathering.
Our Entrepreneur Conference, aimed at empowering youth and facilitating dialogue among business professionals, lawyers, and financial advisors, was scheduled to conclude by 4:30 PM to ensure we could exit the premises by the library's 5 PM closing time, as previously communicated and agreed upon with the supervisor.
However, at approximately 4:20 PM, while we were in the process of concluding the event and answering a guest's question, a female security guard entered the room in an aggressive and disruptive manner. Despite my attempt to explain that we were in the process of wrapping up as agreed, she continued to speak loudly and confrontationally, insisting that we vacate the premises immediately.
Regrettably, her behavior was disrespectful and unprofessional. Not only did she disregard our efforts to conclude the event in an orderly manner, but she also exhibited an unacceptable level of rudeness and insensitivity. Her remarks, including personal comments about appearance, were completely uncalled for and created a hostile environment among attendees.
Furthermore, I was disheartened by the supervisor's response, which appeared to justify the security guard's behavior solely based on time constraints. I firmly believe that the situation should have been handled with more tact and professionalism, respecting the ongoing program and the individuals involved.
It is my sincere hope that this incident will not be disregarded. I urge you to address this matter promptly and provide the necessary training to ensure that all staff members, especially those in security roles, are equipped with the appropriate communication and conflict resolution skills.
While I am grateful for the library's support in hosting our event, the unfortunate experience has left a lasting negative impression. Regrettably, until such concerns are addressed and appropriate measures are taken, we are hesitant to consider returning to the premises.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will take appropriate action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future."
