"This place is amazing! I've been living here for 4 years and this is my first time here. I went with my husband and my furbaby. Its a beautiful walk. We didn't see not one person during the 2 hours we were there. Some parts of the forest were a lil scary. Some parts of the trail you had to walk in a single line one behind each other. It's as wild as can be. I absolutely loved it. My husband usually complains about going on walks but he really enjoyed this, so we will be going back.
My dog absolutely loved it. Dont let your little furbabies off leash, you don't know what's out there. Something was definitely stalking us at one point. My dog kept freaking out. Won't stop me going back.
Plenty of shady spots. Don't forget water for yourself and your dogs. My dog drank 2 bottles of water in the 2 hours we were there but we got there at 11.30 left at 1.30pm it was super hot.
They have walking trails, biking trails and off road vehicle trails. They ha e an off rental place near by too. Enjoy guys!!"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, parents should be mindful of the wilder sections of the forest and the potential for wildlife. Keeping children close and within sight is recommended, and ensuring they stay on marked trails is important. As with all outdoor adventures, bringing plenty of water and snacks is essential, especially if visiting during warmer parts of the day. The lack of abundant restrooms means planning ahead is key for families with young children.
🐶 Dog Owners
Crucially, always keep your dog on a leash. While the park is beautiful, it's a natural habitat, and encounters with wildlife are possible. Visitors have noted their dogs reacting to unseen animals, so vigilance is key. Don't forget to pack extra water for your dog; they'll likely need it after a good romp.

Navigating the Trails
It's important to note that while the trails are beautiful, some sections of the forest can feel quite wild and remote. Visitors have reported experiencing moments where they felt like they were being stalked, particularly with pets. Therefore, keeping pets leashed is strongly advised for their safety and to respect the natural environment.
For those planning a visit, consider the time of day. Arriving earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon can help you avoid the midday heat, especially during warmer months. The park's proximity to the interstate makes it an accessible option for a quick nature escape or a longer exploration.
Pet-Friendly Adventures
To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for everyone, keeping dogs on a leash at all times is paramount. This not only protects your pet from potential encounters with wildlife but also ensures they don't disturb other visitors or the natural habitat. Remember to bring plenty of water for your pets, as they can get thirsty quickly, especially during warmer weather.
While the park offers a great opportunity for dogs to explore, it's wise to be prepared for a truly wild experience. The trails can be long, and some sections require single-file walking, so consider your pet's stamina and comfort level. Overall, with proper precautions, Istachatta can be a rewarding destination for pet owners.
