What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Coffin Pond offers a chlorinated swimming experience with a sandy beach and a water slide, making it a local draw for families. While the amenities are appreciated, visitors frequently mention high admission fees for non-residents and a strict lifeguard staff that enforces rules with notable vigilance. The scheduled lifeguard breaks also impact water access, leading to mixed reviews on the overall value and experience.
"My family and I discovered Coffin Pond this summer and have been a few times so far this season. First I will start off by saying that Coffin Pond is conveniently located near downtown Brunswick, a small pond that is chlorinated, roped off into sections, sandy beach, a water slide and lifeguard staff on premises.
It costs $6 per adult (residents of Brunswick) and $5 for children. Making our daily trip cost of myself and two kids $16. While I will admit that it's not 'terrible' pricing, I do think it is a bit steep for continuous visits for a mom that needs things to do during the summer with bored kids. It certainly adds up quick!
One thing that I think is important to mention prior to visiting Coffin Pond is the lifeguard staff on duty are not friendly. The whistles are constantly blowing, and they're constantly yelling at kids and adults alike for breaking rules (that aren't even posted publicly anywhere, or if they are, hard to find). While visiting today, I probably heard the whistles of a few very miserable, young lifeguards, while yelling at kids to "stay off the landline", (which apparently is referring to the rope in the water..?) and "keep your hands to yourself" a minimum of 15 times in a two hour time period. The family sitting next to us on the beach also noticed and eye rolled and commented at how over the top they are. To which they voiced they would not be returning. ALSO, on top of paying the fee to get in, the staff takes a break at 12:00 on the dot for lunch, and no one is allowed in the water during that time. Again at 2 pm. While I'm all for supporting breaks, it's a bit much when people are paying a hefty fee to be there.
I'm giving it 3 stars because although the staff are extremely unpleasant and the rules are a bit strict for a facility that has a lot of families and children that visit, my kids do enjoy visiting and it's the only place local that has a water slide. It's a convenient drive for our family, and at the end of the day, it is a place to swim and cool off. There is definitely way more room for improvement though, preferably starting with the over-the-top staff that appear to really dislike children and their job."

"Very small swim area with expensive prices $9 for 13 years and older $6 for residents. The park includes a small sand beach, picnic tables, and a concession stand for snacks and drinks. There is a waterside that could entertain young kids and a playground. Definitely not somewhere I would go. I brought a bus load of kids, and there was maybe 20 or so that showed up besides that. I think all the kids had to get out while the lifeguards took a break. Coffin Pond should update or charge less ."

"I was really excited to check this place out because I had never been.
I was pretty surprised how expensive it was to get it for people who don’t live in Brunswick and had it been a better experience I could justify spending 15 dollars to get in for one adult and an 18 month old.
First thing was directly after we paid we were greeted not so pleasantly by staff member telling us we cannot set up there. They had a large group of campers coming in to take swim tests and where we were headed was where the kids were going to be shortly. I can totally understand needing the space wide open for the swim tests, but I feel it could have been handled a little bit better as we didn’t know that the tests were about to happen and I felt as if I was being reprimanded.
We set up far away from where the tests were going to take place only to find that there was a bunch of trash and my little one continued to find more as we played in the sand. I understand not being able to get every shred of trash, but this was slightly off putting.
I will say that the lifeguards were wonderful and doing a great job keeping everybody safe."
