What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Camarillo Train Station is functional for its purpose but lacks essential amenities like restrooms, requiring travelers to plan ahead. Its unique track layout and transfer system can be confusing and time-consuming, with a strong recommendation to double-check schedules on-site. However, its proximity to Camarillo Old Town offers a pleasant nearby area for exploration and dining.
"7/12/2025
When a Station does not have a restroom, it is default 3 stars for me. The bridge to track 2 going Southbound is a bit long but I hear there are plans for renovation to mitigate that.
The station itself is near Camarillo Old Town so it is a good place to take a walk if your train is not coming for an hour or more. Regarding restrooms, you can either go to a restaurant nearby or walk a bit up where the Camarillo Farmer's Market is to have access to a very clean restroom.
You van take the 50 or 55 bus to get to Thousand Oaks The Oaks Mall."

"After becoming a victim of the horrible design/setup of this otherwise nice and unpretentious train station, I am posting these pictures in the hopes of helping other potential victims avoid missing their trains. Note that both Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink trains stop at this station. Pacific Surfliner DOES NOT accept Metrolink tickets, and vice versa. There is only 1 paystation and 1 monitor displaying train schedules and both are located in Track 1. If you are parked in Track 2, you will need ~5 minutes to walk up the winding ramp and overpass and use 4 flights of stairs to get to Track 1.
Track 1 – Pacific Surfliner NORTHBOUND and Metrolink WEEKDAY Trains only
Track 2 – Pacific Surfliner SOUTHBOUND and Metrolink WEEKEND Trains only
Note that train schedules posted online DO NOT always match current train schedules as posted on the monitor above the paystation, so pay attention!!

"The bridge to get from track one to track two is longer than it needs to be. With the stairs and the ramps it takes a couple of minutes to get from one side to the other"

Understanding Track Layout and Transfers
Track 2 is designated for southbound Pacific Surfliner trains and weekend Metrolink services. The primary challenge at this station is the transfer between tracks. A pedestrian overpass connects the two, but it involves navigating ramps and stairs. Travelers are strongly advised to budget at least 5 minutes for this transfer, as it can be time-consuming, especially with luggage or during busy periods.
This unique setup has led to some traveler frustration, with one reviewer humorously awarding the station the "Award for Worst Train Station Design 2024" due to the perceived difficulty in making timely connections between tracks. Always confirm your track and allow ample time for any necessary transfers.
Amenities and Nearby Attractions
Despite the amenity limitations, the station's location offers a pleasant diversion. It's situated near Camarillo Old Town, a charming area with shops and eateries. If your train has a delay or you arrive early, taking a walk through Old Town can be a relaxing way to pass the time. This proximity also means that dining options are readily available just a short walk away, alleviating the lack of food services at the station itself.
Ticketing and Service Information
Online train schedules can sometimes differ from the real-time information displayed on the monitors at the station. Travelers are urged to pay close attention to the on-site monitors for the most accurate and up-to-date train schedules. This vigilance can prevent missed connections or boarding the wrong train.
