What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Peveto Woods is a cherished small sanctuary praised for its vital role in supporting migratory birds and butterflies. Visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the chance to witness nature's spectacles, though the intense mosquito population and limited amenities are noted drawbacks. It's a place for patient observation rather than extensive activities.
"I visit often and although the hurricanes did some tree damage, its not nearly as bad as east Cameron. Migratory birds are here now, the mulberries are ripe so the activity is high. Flowers in bloom, no butterflies or skippers yet but there are many hummingbirds taking advantage of them. The mosquitoes are horrible so take spray and if you plan to walk the trails, wear protective shoes/boots. On a side note- be curteous when driving through, I have had several loud thumping stereos, speeding cars and impatient drivers ruin amazing shots. It's a sanctuary no bigger than a half mile total. Go slow, look around and be kind !"

"It's obviously a bird and butterfly sanctuary but there really isn't anything for people to do there. The beach is close by. The sanctuary area is not a place where you can walk through and see things."

"I love this little piece of wilderness!
It's so peaceful sitting under the trees. You'd never guess that the Gulf of Mexico is just out of sight.
There were no birds on the day we went but it was still a satisfying day."
