What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise The Flower Fields for their breathtaking beauty and vibrant colors, describing it as a 'real-life painting' and a 'dreamy' experience. The sheer scale of the ranunculus blooms is a major highlight, offering incredible photo opportunities. While the natural beauty is undeniable, some guests note that on-site food options are basic and washrooms could be cleaner. Crowds can be a factor, especially on weekends, making early visits or weekday trips advisable.
"The Carlsbad Flower Fields are a great place to visit, especially during peak bloom. Start early to beat the crowds and bring water, sun hats, or even an umbrella. There is a lot of walking and some dust from the parking lot, so be ready for that.
The flowers are beautiful, but be mindful not to step into the fields so they stay protected. There is sometimes live music which adds a nice touch. The food options are not the best, mostly hot dogs and basic snacks, but they are edible if you are hungry.
Lines can get long so patience is key. For kids, there is a fun scavenger hunt that takes them around the whole field.
Afterward, you can stop by the Carlsbad Outlets nearby to do some shopping or grab ice cream. Overall, it is a great seasonal outing if you plan ahead."

"What a beautiful place! We went on a Friday and it wasn’t very crowded. It was just gorgeous! The flowers are so pretty and fresh! We went into the butterfly room and it was pretty magical until my one year old grandson had a butterfly land on his lip and he tried to eat it! Luckily no butterflies were injured! The sweet pea maze was fun, we actually got a little lost. Everyone seemed happy who was there and the people working there were very nice! We went earlier in the day and took about 90 minutes, by the time we left the sun came out and I was overdressed. We can’t wait to go again next year."

"First time here...Went down to celebrate my bday, during our Spring Break. Visited during the week, & there were some school kids, but it wasn't crowded for the time we chose (9:30am) & we spent a good 2±hrs there. Flowers were fully bloomed except for the last section/row when going towards the flag, but I'm guessing they will be fully bloomed for May. But I think we went during the perfect time.
The weather was nice, sunny & breezy w/fog clouds rolling in, so that made it cool. They have areas to buy ice cream & food w/tables but when leaving, we seen people bringing in their own lunch so I guess you can do that too when visiting."
