"A fantastic trail to the top of Castle Dome. We got right to the base of it and if you wanted to get all the way to the dome, it appeared you could scramble up there. The views from the top of both the dome and Mount Shasta were beautiful! The crags were also beautiful.
Of course, it’s about 3 miles up and 3 miles down, but worth the effort!"

"Loved the hike to Castle dome! Beautiful views towards the end when you start to see the granite spires! Most of the hike is very well shaded , until the last 0.75 mile. This last 0.75 mile involved a lot of walking on rocks and it's almost like climbing on stairs, so the gradient is pretty steep.
I'd say it's a moderate to hard hike. I carried a 1.5 year old throughout the hike along with a backpack for about half the hike, and it was a fairly challenging hike."
Achyuthan J.R.
"Amazing views from the top! Definitely worth the effort. The park staff was very helpful. We arrived later in the day after visiting Lake Shasta Caverns, which is an absolute must do if you are in the area. We waited in the lower lot until a spot at the Vista Viewpoint opened up and she waved us up."
