While some note the limited shade and potential for missing the entrance, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting its beauty and the care put into its upkeep.
"A beautiful and informative wander by the RRSNF's W Fork Illinois River. Bikes are allowed but some weak etiquette observed today. Great shade, resting benches and a river-side table. Some dedicated care and attention goes into this area, thank you USDA, the MDB of LM, the State of Oregon employees and volunteers."

"Appreciating nature I took a stroll. What a unique and thoughtful place. Not very big as things have grown, built probley late 50s"

"I lived right next to rough and ready mill. My family lived in this area for ever, and I ride my pony down to river in the summer and play. I love this area lots of great swimming holes. But I haven't lived in the area for years now I miss it but love Coos bay too. Go back all time to visit family but they do have cool plants. But there is scorpions in this area I use to play with them little black ones some white ones. And few rattle snakes. I was usually on the other side of the street they were down by miss whiteheads house but if they were there they probably on the other side too. Beautiful area lots of volcanic rock when I was a kid of 8 some use to float in the river."
