Timing is Everything for Azaleas

Hampton Park truly shines during azalea season, typically in spring. Visiting outside this peak bloom means fewer vibrant colors, though the park remains a lovely green space. Consider the heat; locals suggest it gets 'hot as balls' in summer, making early mornings or late afternoons ideal for exploring.Reddit

Wildlife Watch: Geese & Ducks

Be prepared for abundant waterfowl! While charming, the geese and ducks mean you'll need to watch your step for droppings. Visitors note finding seashells in the park, adding a unique touch to this urban oasis.Reddit

Favorite coffee shop steps from Hampton Park! 🧋 @sightseeshop is the neighborhood spot you can’t miss. After 4.5 years in their well loved position on Line St, Sightsee moved to an even better location on Rutledge. They combine a travel + surf aesthetic, retail space, and plenty of seating to gather or get work done. 🏄‍♂️ ☕️ ⚡️ 🏄‍♀️ • • #charleston #chs #charlestoncharm #lowcountryliving...

Reviews Summary

Hampton Park is widely praised for its beauty, especially its vibrant floral displays in spring and its serene pond. Visitors appreciate the ample space for picnics and recreation, as well as the opportunity to observe local wildlife. Some minor drawbacks include the presence of goose droppings and a noted lack of accessibility ramps to the grandstand.

"This park is very nice and very big. I do however have a concern, that there is not a handicapped ramp for people unable to do stairs, to the grandstand. I would also suggest more benches throughout the park, to sit and watch the pond or in the shade.
Overall this is a large park and beautiful."

Anita Wurm

"It’s beautiful and well kept, there are a lot of geese and ducks so if you’re afraid of them I recommend you don’t go. Theres also a lot of duck/geese poop so beware of your steps. Overall a great place to walk around"

Janett M

"As a visitor that's not from Charleston I thought the park was pretty amazing. I walked a lot on different paths and got to see ducks by the waterfall. There were numerous flowers and a lot of people working out. I would have spent more time here if it didn't start pouring down heavy rain."
