"I took the train from the suburbs, and was rollerblading on the Bloomingdale Trail, and saw the cross on top of this church while sitting on one the benches taking a break. something was calling me, so I rolled on down to the church just to get a better look, at all the ornate beautiful statues on top of the dome. I walked up the steps in my rollerblades enrolled into the church, then all of a sudden I realized I had walked into the very beginning of the sermon about Ascension Day. I rolled right into the church in my rollerblades and sat down. It was as beautiful as a sunset or a mountain range. I am LCMS Lutheran. God sent me there."

"Absolutely gorgeous church. We went late in the (buisness) day when it was quiet and just soaked in the beauty."

"I, like many others before me, sought this specific church out because of the Jim Butcher Dresden Files books. It's undergoing restoration but even with that, it's gorgeous. The whole area is also peaceful; truly a house of God with an energy to it that envelopes you in comfort and peace. There aren't many places I've been to where the energy and vibe make me feel like everything will be ok. This is definitely one of those places.
I did zoom in on the angels up top, just to make sure they weren't weeping angels from Doctor Who. This is definitely the kind of place you can imagine an Angel talking to someone in.
Being Catholic, a lover of architecture of this nature in general, and a fan of Harry Dresden, I would totally receive communion here every week if it weren't so far away from where I live.
The inside is even more beautiful than I had imagined. I didn't get permission to take pictures inside, so I didn't take any. It's definitely worth the time to go see it and feel the peace for yourself.
BONUS: Pequods pizza is right over there 👉 from here. 😁"
