My final favorite place I visited this year is Wright’s Ferry Mansion, sitting on the banks of the Susquehanna River for over 280 years! I will admit, I was absolutely taken aback with how amazing the interiors and objects were in each room. It wasn’t until later that I found out Joe Kindig III helped preserve the house. His passion for historic preservation resulted in his decade’s long guidance ...

"Wow! What a gem! An authentic 18th century home in beautiful condition. Our tour guide was the exceptionally talented Asst. Curator, Elizabeth Dillon. We were fortunate to have her as our private tour guide. She had an answer to every question and every "And what is this item?"

This is a hidden gem just off of Route 30 in Columbia, PA. See it before it is turned into a residential house as so many colonial homes have become.

Benjamin Franklin himself was a welcomed guest in this home. Just picture him sitting in the parlor talking to Suzanna Wright about his latest inventions.

Thank you, Elizabeth, for taking so much time with us on the tour.

Please note: tours are given on the hour.

There is also a bank museum within walking distance of the Wright Mansion. We'll be back to see this.

"Our tour guide Tess was simply fabulous! She knew so much about Suzanne Wright and her history. All the furniture and contents of the house were from the first half of the 1700's. Obviously great care has been given to keep it so true to the time period. Tess spoke about topics from the local history to how to raise silk worms and make silk. She made the experience memorable.
If I could give TEN stars I would."

"We stopped in while visiting Columbia for the first time. We were very impressed with the museum. We have been to a lot of similar places but what stood out about this house was how much of it was original to the 1700s. In addition out guide was simply fantastic! She was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer nearly every question we asked. We highly recommend visiting!"
