What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise James Kiehl River Bend Park as a gorgeous, peaceful escape in the Texas Hill Country. Highlights include the accessible Guadalupe River for wading and the scenic prairie trails. While amenities are basic, the natural beauty and free entry make it a beloved quiet spot.
"This is such a gorgeous park. The hike was short but enjoyable. The upper portion is a great slice of the Texas hill country prairie with plenty of prickly pair cactus, mullein, and
Snow-on-the-Mountain. There were towers for chimney swifts along the loop as well. There are no paved trails but they are well maintained as the grass was mowed to mark the trail.
The picnic tables are located on the upper area and have shade from the larger trees. The bathrooms are port-o-potties, but they are well maintained.
The park is peaceful and was overall a lovely experience. One of the best quiet spots in Kendall County! Besides myself there was one family who was out enjoying the river."

"I love this place not far from Comfort Tx. Free place to spend some time away from work or with family. I hadn't been since the brand new stairs were put in to walk to the water. Thank you for this! that trail was getting really rough. My favorite little area to walk, and plenty of places to sit and rest while I write."
Justin Hix
"The parking lot is in good shape but the river area still contains lots of debris."
