Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge for its incredible wildlife viewing opportunities, especially the bison and prairie dogs, and its peaceful atmosphere so close to Denver. The free entry and scenic 11-mile drive are major draws. Some reviewers noted that wildlife sightings can vary, and one mentioned an unexpected political display in the Visitor Center.

"What a beautiful place! The lake was calm, wildflowers were everywhere, and I saw prairie dogs, deer, and birds. Peaceful trails and great views so close to Denver. Perfect for a quiet nature walk"

Jenny Nguyen

"Excellent place to get close to some nature with free entry and well marked roads and look out points to stop at. Plenty of parking and additional things to see at the visitors centre. Have visited a couple of time and the first visit only saw the Bison herds from a distance but this time they got a little too close for comfort. I’m sure it will buff out !!!"

Scouser1965

"I enjoyed watching the bison with their babies and the prairie dogs are so cute with their noises. We saw so many different birds including a couple of Snow Egrets! I could stay their all day and watch the wildlife.

I gave them a four star as I was taken aback when I entered the Visitor Center and one of the first things I saw was pictures of Trump and Vance! This is no place for politics. Because of this I didn’t stay and buy anything although that was my intention.

Otherwise, I love the rest of the place! We also saw one of the ferrets who are nocturnal creatures! I highly recommend if you love wildlife!"
