Reviews Summary

Congaree National Park is praised for its unique old-growth forest and accessible boardwalk, offering a serene escape. While some find it less engaging than other national parks, its free entry and diverse wildlife make it a worthwhile visit, especially when prepared for the abundant insects. TikTokInstagramReddit

"It was a great day for a walk along the boardwalk—temperatures in the high 70s with a slight overcast. The park’s mosquito alert level was set to mild.

There are plenty of trails to explore, and the natural beauty is well preserved.

Ample parking is available, and both entrance and parking are free. Located just a few minutes from Columbia, it’s definitely worth a visit when in South Carolina."

Kye

"Really interesting place. They have some huge spiders, the big ones are mostly harmless. See pictures below of one spinning her web. Walking path thru the trees. Wheelchairs can go through, which I thought was great. It is buggy so bring spray. You can see the fireflies at night from what I am told. We went in the day time."

Michelle Staggers

"Great national park and one of the most unique I have visited. The boardwalk loop was very nice, even though part of it was closed. Plenty of wildlife and plants to see including the bald cypress. Mosquitos were fine, but the horseflies were a bit annoying. The visitor center was nice and the rangers were helpful. 5 stars :)"
