Angel's rest of off Exit 28 (Bridal Veil) on the way to Multnomah Falls on I-84 East out of Portland. The hike is ~4.6 miles round trip and 1500 ft vertical gain. I say it is an easy hike because everything in the Gorge is tough and everything is climbing. It's comparable to…

To the hundreds of people hiking Angel's Rest, you suck at social distancing.

I just rode my motorcycle through the historic highway. That trailhead is as packed as I've ever seen it. The parking lot is full and there isn't a street side parking spot for almost a quarter mile up the road. I know it's a beautiful day and a lot of us have nothing to do, but…

Reviews Summary

Angel's Rest Trail is a highly-rated hike known for its challenging yet rewarding climb and stunning Columbia River Gorge views. Visitors praise the unique rocky terrain and the panoramic summit vistas, making it a favorite for both locals and tourists. Some find the uphill climb strenuous and note the importance of proper footwear for the rocky sections.

"Beautiful. Great hike. I love his that are more than just a dirt trail. This does not disappoint. Rock slabs and rock fields littered along this step climb. Great views along the way to the top. Not too far from the city, either. Great for an early morning weekend hike, leaving plenty of time for the rest of your day to go on normally, albeit much more energized!"

Abigail Bruce (Abbie)

"Went solo to Angel's Rest today to clear my head. I arrived at around 8am and there were still at least 15 parking spots open. It was the first time I've hiked it. It's mostly uphill, and there are two rocky areas that would definitely be uncomfortable without proper footwear. It's a beautiful, serene hike. At the top, it's easy to pass Angel's Rest, and continue to Devil's Rest by accident, which is what I did. I turned back and found the right path (it's unmarked, but decently obvious). You'll know you passed it if you reach the sign that gives directions to Devil's Rest and Foxglove Way. I enjoyed the hike, and next time plan to keep going to Devil's. I would have done it today, but it was overcast. Still beautiful, but would have preferred a clearer day."

Keith Ekakiadis

"One of my favorite hikes in the area. Good distance and difficulty with plenty of shade on sunny days. Super great views all along the trail. The view at the top is totally worth it. Amazing spot for pictures or a quick picnic."
