What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Corrales is praised for its charming village atmosphere, strong sense of community, and equestrian heritage. Visitors enjoy the local growers market, unique shops, and cozy cafes. However, some reviews mention issues with local law enforcement's enforcement of ordinances, particularly regarding off-leash dogs.
"The ACO'S and the chief of police do not enforce the leash law or issue citations. Continuing issues with dogs off-leash, and dogs at large. When you are out walking make sure you carry some sort of baton with you and/or mace. Do not bother to call the ACO because they will do absolutely nothing. That's what they've been directed to do, and that's what they do. Nothing.
As an example, per a public records request, despite all of the dogs off leash and complaints, they have only issued ONE citation in FIVE years!
Records from before that they claim have all been deleted, and I know for a fact, the leash law was not enforced back then either. Therefore, there would have been no citations issued. Pitiful!
It's the citations that wake people up because that starts affecting their personal budget.
More tax supported employees not doing their jobs and cherry -picking which statutes they will enforce or not. That is not how it works!"

"This is a review of the Corrales Police Department. Reviewing the Police Dept. on Google is not allowed directly. I was pulled over coming back from Fancies after spending $400 on dinner for my cousins out of town. I had just bought a car and did not realize the rear lights did not come on automatically like the front ones did. Officer Morales pulled me over for not having on rear lights and issued a $74 dollar citation for not having a proof of registration despite having current license plate sticker on my plate. That was not enough. After getting citation I sat in my car five minutes not able to depart because the police would not turn off their torch shining in my car making me unable to see any oncoming traffic. After a few minutes they realized the issue, turned of the torch and I was able to depart. I went home and tried to pay the citation. Being a good citizen I tried paying the citation online but I was unable to pull it up in several tries. I called the dept. to realize my b-day was entered incorrectly. Anyway, my point is the police in Corrales is incompetent, and creating unsafe road situations and too busy chasing funding by giving citations to law obeying citizens instead of chasing real criminals. Perhaps a bit of training would be beneficial."
