Visitors praise Marys River Natural Area for its serene beauty, especially in foggy or rainy weather, and its well-maintained boardwalk trails through open fields. It's a favored spot for jogging and wildlife observation. However, access can be challenging due to potential flooding and rough roads, and direct river access is limited.
"This has been my favorite place to jog for years! Especially in the rain and fog!! 🥰 Something really majestic about the smokey grey mountains and trees in the distance across the large open fields!"

"This is a lovely place for a walk. If you park near the east entrance there is a gravel parking lot and short road to bring you closer to the trail head. Because of the flooding, that parking lot and road are very washed out and inaccessible. If you can get around the pool sized pot holes, however, the trail is paved and absolutely pristine. It is a cement sidewalk, and then boardwalk through lovely fields and the Mary's River flood plane. The trail is fairly short. Keep your dogs on a leash. At the end ofthe boardwalk you can wander through the field on a man made trail down to the river, but there is no easy access to the water. It is a steep, clay bank. But the water is beautiful to watch. Allergy alert! Lots of pollen sharing plants :)"

"Vast open swamp ground with a lot of wild flowers. A good spot for picnic or playing with your dog. In spring this place is accessible but I have heard it becomes a swamp in winter(?)."
