"This is a nice little memorial located inside the gates of Sportsmans Lake Park in Cullman, Alabama. It is a wonderful landmark honoring veterans. It is open year round and maintained very well, you’ll always find it neat and clean. It honors all branches of service. It includes a veterans walk with the names of over one thousand veterans killed in Vietnam. Many of those listed are from Cullman, Alabama. The park also has monuments from World War I and World War II, amongst others. On display is a big Army tank that gives you an idea of what they’re really like, if you e never seen one before. They’re big! The park also includes a pavilion that seats over 100 people. The memorial is all gated. It’s not very big, but does leave a big impact. You can also purchase a brick to honor a veteran. You would most likely go on the website or possibly try to call and contact Cullman County Parks and Recreation, as this is a county owned park, not city. It’s a very nice addition to the surrounding park and lake. If visiting remember, it’s very hot in the summer , however the snack bar and amenities at the neighboring park are usually open during these months. There are bathrooms on site and they are clean .Typically the gates close at sundown .Nice day trip with lots of history. I do recommend this park."
