What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Currituck Club offers a beautiful Rees Jones-designed course with stunning coastal views, particularly on the back nine. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with the high greens fees, additional charges for amenities, and inconsistent pace of play, leading to a mixed experience for the price.
"$185 for a less than ideal experience. Greens are soft and slow. Fairways are in good shape. Course ranger had a god complex. Came up to us from the rear and my son asked “can you keep the twosome behind us off our ass”? He then says “ don’t swear at me”. Well, he wasn’t swearing at him. He then says they are members and this is a private course. Guess what, it’s not a private course. They sell tee times online Besides, member or not dial it back and don't be obnoxious. Went in to express our frustration with clubhouse mgr/director of golf. He was more concerned that I was leaning forward explaining my frustration with the experience than he was with what I was saying. AVOID. Total $$ grab combined with a less than average experience."

"Went back here for the first time in about 10 years. Such a shame to see a once great course go downhill so much. When you are paying $200 per person for greens fees you don’t expect to get nickel and dimed on top of that. Range balls, tee, towels, and water bottles were all an additional charge. They got rid of their GPS, I guess it was too expensive along with all the other amenities you’d expect. The restaurant wasn’t open when we arrived. It opened right before our tee time but didn’t have any food ready for grab and go options at 7AM. The club/ball cleaner base rusted on the cart and had no water in it.
The course itself was still a great layout but more cost saving measures were apparent there as well. High bushes just in front of the teeing areas causing you to have to back up just to hit driver over it. The holes’ edges were rounded and brown, obvious they hadn’t been changed in a few days.
The topper was getting yelled at by the starter for going to the tee at 6:59. Our tee time was 7:00 but he hadn’t released us yet to leave the putting green."

"A must-play when visiting OBX. It's a little pricey and the back 9 is definitely more impressive than the front nine. Course was in great condition when I was there in late August. The staff/starter were very friendly and welcoming."
