Replying to @AceCrixus71 One of the big reasons for the altered skies in photos of our past are because of airships and other aircraft. Long before the Wright brothers first airplane these dominated the skies. #questioneverything #oldworld #History #airship #zeppelin #historyreset #mudflood #historytok #fyp

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the memorial for its historical significance and inspiring story of innovation. The monument and grounds offer beautiful views and a tangible connection to aviation's beginnings. However, some reviewers note that the landscaping could be better maintained, and there's a desire for more interactive elements for children. Reddit

"A Piece of Aviation History Right in the Neighborhood!
Just minutes from my place near Wright State University, this site honors the legendary Wright brothers and overlooks Huffman Prairie, where powered flight truly began.
A peaceful spot with amazing views, historical plaques, and deep Dayton pride. Great for a quiet walk, reflection, or to just feel inspired by innovation."

"I feel like this park has massive potential to be something so beautiful but the landscaping is lacking greatly. Instead of pulling the weeds and refreshing the mulch, the weeds and anything growing in it is just mowed over. Sidewalks are grown over, no edging, All the cement, marble, and memorial itself is in dire need of power washing, the growth of poison ivy and other Vines around the trees and the bushes overgrown and things hanging over the parking lot gives it such a unkept look the overlook with the rocks has grass creeping up all over it to the point where you can't tell where the edge is, but it is a nice memorial overall, it would just be nice to see the wright brothers commemorated with some beautiful landscaping"

"The Wright Brothers Memorial is across from the Huffman Prairie Flying Field Interpretive Center. This was commemorated on August 19th, 1940 which was Orville's 69th birthday. It is circled by short walls which have plaques on them at certain places. On the top of some of them are arrows showing the direction to look for what they are referring to. I was surprised to find that there are also 3 Adena Native American Mounds on the same property very near the Memorial. There is also a plaque dedicated to the pioneer flyers that were trained at the Wright Brothers field. If the trees could talk, what stories would they have (or maybe grass and dirt).

You would find plenty of benches to sit down at and to relax to enjoy the day while you're here. There is a scenic overlook that shows you the Huffman Prairie Flying Field which you can visit. Take a moment and reflect on the excitement the Wright Brothers created. We can now fly across the world in hours all because they flew for 24 minutes."
