What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sun Splash Park offers a fun, family-friendly experience with a great splash pad and direct beach access. While parking can be pricey and beach space limited during high tide, many visitors appreciate the shallow waters for kids and the convenience of nearby amenities. Some reviews mention cleanliness concerns during peak times, but overall, it's a popular spot for a lively beach day.
"Let's just say this was a wild and untamed area. It may have been the time I visited (Saturday afternoon) but the place had trash overflowing and blowing across the beach. Parking was a nightmare and the audience was less than friendly, courteous or respectful. The beach itself is quite thin with having driving lanes and the hotel/Park walls backing up to the beach and also. During high tide there is very little space. Best to find a different beach if youTr looking for a little space and tranquility."
Brandon Freeman
"We came to visit the beach and due to high tide coming in, the park was a great place to sit, play, and eat until beach space became available. The park was clean and the outdoor shower and the restroom were appreciated. The only thing I recommend is for an outdoor shower at both ends and clearly marked recycle bins."
Bryon Chambers
"A little iffy but it’s right by the lifeguard security building. Access to beach right there from playground but couldn’t find shower to rinse feet or body after going to the beach $20 to park all day even if your just there an hour"

Navigating Daytona Beach Driving
For visitors concerned about safety, particularly families with young children, choosing to park at Sun Splash Park and utilize the pedestrian access is a safer bet. The park provides a buffer zone and dedicated play areas away from the traffic. If you do plan to drive on the beach, be sure to check tide charts beforehand, as high tide can make driving impossible or extremely challenging. Always drive slowly and cautiously, and be aware of your surroundings.
Family Fun at Sun Splash Park
The beach access from the park is also a major draw for families. The sand slopes gently into the ocean, creating shallow areas that are perfect for little ones to splash in without being overwhelmed by waves. Reviewers often highlight how this shallow water allows parents to relax a bit more while keeping a close eye on their kids. Combined with the convenience of restrooms and outdoor showers, Sun Splash Park provides a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for a family day out at the beach.
Understanding Beach Conditions and Crowds
To make the most of your visit, consider arriving early on weekdays to secure a good spot and avoid the largest crowds. Checking the tide schedule is crucial; visiting during low tide will maximize your beach area. While some visitors have noted issues with trash and a less-than-friendly atmosphere during peak times, others have found the park and beach to be clean and enjoyable, especially during less busy periods. The $20 parking fee is a consistent point of mention, so factor that into your budget if you plan to park at the park or drive on the beach.
