It's praised as a peaceful escape within the city, perfect for families, dog walkers, and nature lovers alike, though some caution is advised on unpaved trails.
"Great park! Gorgeous, well-maintained trails! Friendly people. The warm late fall weather was a bonus! I had a great time!"

"Great place to go when you're in the city but need to feel like you're out in the woods. Lots of trails that are paved or boardwalks, but there are also a lot of offshoots where you can go near the water, walk along the train tracks, play tennis or pickleball, or whatever your heart desires! I mostly go to hike and love how this place is so close to the city but makes you feel like you're far from civilization. Very dog friendly and has plenty of parking too!
I don't have my own kids but would also highly recommend this place for people who do. Great playgrounds, a community garden, and a nearby library make this park a great stop for all kinds of outings!"

"This is one of my favorite parks in the city. The playground a tennis courts are a plus, but the trails are the real reason I love this park. There are paved trails to walk as well as unpaved trails to explore. Be on the lookout for trail runners or bikers on the “off road” trails just to be safe. There’s a stream and ruins from old Decatur Waterworks as well as train tracks. I really love this park for exploring, playing, or just relaxing. My dogs love it and so does the kid I nanny."
