Finally got over to DeLand today to watch Carl Barden at Reptile Discovery Center.
Highly recommend this to anybody who is anywhere remotely close to checking it out, not only is the venom extraction demonstration absolutely fascinating, the serpentarium collection is second to none as well.

"We visited the Deland House during the week when only two other people signed up for the tour. Vernette gave us a wonderful tour of the house that is filled with antiques and beautiful furniture and kitchen appliances from the time. She described the home of Henry A. Deland and life in the 1850's so well that I felt like I was taken back to that time when Deland was a small town. The fee for the tour is $5 and is well worth the price. The house is lovely and newly renovated. Tours are offered Tuesday - Saturday by the West Volusia Historical Society at 1230 & 230 pm."

"Absolutely lovely restored historic home! The historical society has done a wonderful job at making this place feel like a time capsule. $10 entry per person for a guided tour at 12:30, there is also another at 2:30. It's not possible to walk through the home on your own which is just fine because our tour guide Margot was great and very knowledgeable about the home and the family that lived there! So happy this place is open again."
