What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dennis Highlands Golf Course is praised for its beautiful condition, rolling fairways, and challenging greens. Golfers appreciate the scenic topography and the full grass driving range. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences with staff hospitality and perceived rushing by course rangers, despite generally good pace of play.
"Awesome course with rolling fairways and variable topography. The conditions were very good, with lush fairways and firm, fast greens. Overall the greens are the most challenging part of the course. Very firm, pretty fast, and a lot of slope. Many 4 foot putts outside the hole.
The course has no water hazards, but bunkers and narrow wooded fairways add their own challenge. Overall the par 3s were pretty easy, and the par 5s were more challenging.
Pace of play was fast, but the course was not particularly crowded."

"Fun course with friendly staff. A little challenging, but accessible for all levels. Grass driving range."

"Nice course, good condition. Staff made our group not feel welcome from the beginning to end. The gentleman in the pro shop gave everyone in the group a very hard time when checking in and getting carts. Once on the course the ranger followed our group for at least 5-6 holes, stopped us 3-4 times to tell us we were too slow despite playing 18 and stopping after the 9th for snacks in 4 hours and 15 minutes total. The woman working on the course was very nice, but the men made us feel unwelcome and rushed despite paying $90 for a round. Overall great course but subpar hospitality."

Navigating the Terrain
The course design incorporates natural elements, with strategically placed bunkers and wooded fairways that demand accuracy. While there are no water hazards, these features ensure that golfers must think carefully about each shot. The combination of elevation changes and strategic hazards makes for a memorable round that tests both skill and endurance.
Mastering the Greens
Players should anticipate that putts might roll out further than expected, and breaking putts can be more pronounced due to the significant undulations. Practicing your putting stroke and understanding how to read the greens will be crucial for scoring well. The greens are often cited as the most challenging aspect of the course, so be prepared to adapt your game.
Understanding the Pace of Play
However, one reviewer noted an experience where their group felt rushed by a course ranger, despite completing 18 holes in a reasonable time. It's advisable to be mindful of your pace, but also to communicate with course staff if you feel you are being unfairly pressured. The overall consensus leans towards a smooth and efficient golfing experience.
