What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Old State House for its free, informative tours led by passionate guides who bring history to life. While the interior has been renovated, the restored rooms and historical context make it a worthwhile visit, especially for those interested in Delaware's early government and heritage.
"There's just a little to see within The Old State House but the tour is where the money is (it's free though). Tours are given every hour at 10, 11, 1, 2, and 3. There's a ton of history with this that you'd need a guide to educate you on. The tour is an hour long but we had a guide named Gavin who spent a little extra time explaining things because it's so rich in history. Gavin was definitely knowledgeable and passionate when giving the tour and I'm sure the other guides are the same. I would definitely recommend doing this."

"Would have loved for this to be fully original, would have really been a site to see. Unfortunately, this old state house has been fully renovated and the way the original looked on the inside has changed quite a bit. The building itself is not much to see but the free tours make this place worth visiting. You get to see the original blueprints of the building and learn about some historical figures that aren't always mentioned in the textbooks."

The Green in Dover is a walk back into history. The Old State House has been restored to its original design as it was changed over time.
You are permitted to go through all the rooms and the overviews of the rooms. Chairs and desks are setup like they are awaiting the assembly or a judgement.
I want to thank both Susan and Steven for their time in explaining the history."
