What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Doylestown offers a unique blend of historical museums and quirky shops, particularly appealing to fantasy and paranormal enthusiasts. However, some visitors have reported disappointing dining experiences with slow service and high prices at certain establishments, suggesting a need for operational improvements.
"Go somewhere else!!!!!
I went there on two occasions and both turned out to be quite disappointing and a week apart
Visit one: happy hour with a group who had reservations as a group. I went to the bar and started a tab. It was a little crowded at first since it was a nice day and just after work. I went outside to socialize with the group and wanted to place an order for appetizers. I was informed (very politely) that since I started the tab in the bar I would have to interrupt what I was doing and order from the bar or close my tab at the bar.
When I did order a simple appetizer (calamari) it finally arrived an hour and a half (I timed it) later.
Note to staff and management for visit one: you all work for the same place and if your system is setup where your customers can transition between the bar inside and outside then you need to have staff which can flow like this and work on food delivery. It wasn't worth waiting for - even if it had arrived in 30 within minutes (standard).
Visit two Friday June 13th @ 7 PM - got seating inside restaurant now - different server but the same lack-luster service. I got there later than the rest of my group as well as another gentleman. Took 20 minutes to even get my drink - and hour to order a simple salmon style salad which was way overpriced and had zero - I mean zero flavor - fish was way overcooked. Waitress didn't come back to even ask how the food was - I ordered a second drink just so I could get through the meal (since she had not noticed mine was near empty and she didn't really return much to the table) and that arrived 20 minutes (timed again) later.
We were seated near the back of the restaurant and the place was very near empty. We had to track her down to get the check. We were a group of about 8.
Food was over priced and not enjoyable - gratuity is included on the check - I should as an individual be able to tip out what service is delivered. I usually tip out 20% or better for over the top service - this was worth 5% at best.
Asked for check to be split since it was a group function - again they could not handle this request either.
I added my meal up - added the gratuity as noted on the check. I got the receipt to sign and it asked for gratuity (which is included on the check)
Service was very lousy again
Unless this place undergoes drastic changes all groups (multiple ones) will be taking their business elsewhere.
Me personally; If there was a choice between a dive bar with good food and service 10 miles away or Harbor house I would drive the 10 miles. Even if it mean my house was inside harbor house.
Wake up management if you are thinking of keeping this as a business. The decor is nice but you need to overhaul your operations, menu, staff, and everything about this place if you want to call it a business."
