Thanks to all who made it out to the Grand Opening of the Texas Canyon Nature Preserve trail system at the @amerindmuseum! Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Amerind Museum for its stunning natural landscape and the well-maintained trails of the Texas Canyon Nature Preserve. The museum's collections of Indigenous art and artifacts are also highly regarded for their educational value and beauty. While some find the separate admission fees for trails and exhibits a bit much, most agree the experience is well worth the cost.

"What a very beautiful landscape! We didn't get a chance to check out the museum or art gallery as we came in a little late in the day. But the short hike we did do was very beautiful! Lots of trails here to explore! This is a privately owned location so access to the trails costs about $12 per person. It is well worth it as they keep the trails up very nicely! Access to the museum and art gallery is an additional cost. Children 10 and under are free. Staff was very pleasant. We will definitely be exploring this area again in the near future! Bikes are not allowed on the trails. We did bring my 3-year-old 's balance bike and carried it 90% of the way. We didn't realize bikes weren't allowed until we got back to the car and seen the sign. That is literally right in front of the trail. 😂"

"Nice little museum, and art gallery, beautiful country side. Plenty of parking. Cool old cemetery on the property. Right off the highway, easy on and off. Rv parking as well."

michelle

"Beautiful location, excellent collection of artifacts with just enough explanation to enrich appreciation of how native peoples lived close to the land and made art for thousands of years in harmony with earth energies. Have visited twice in 3 years and enjoyed seeing different exhibits each time. Added bonus is the art gallery that showcases the works of contemporary native artists. Bring a picnic lunch and soak in this peaceful location amidst the picturesque boulders of Texas Canyon shaded by native trees. A jewel on the busy I-10 corridor that should not be missed."
