What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate The Depot's historic charm, particularly the well-maintained rail museum and enjoyable scenic train rides, with crews often receiving high praise. However, some feel the venue has lost its unique artistic vibe and community feel since the departure of certain arts organizations.
"The Depot is NOT what it used to be! With the Art Institute gone, the Children’s Museum gone, the art exhibits gone, The Duluth Playhouse gone. The stage in the great hall is walled off. All the character, uniqueness, art, and the community vibe is gone. Also the half moon wooden desk at the entryway is gone. It was a unique community building and now it’s been taken over by the county and everything has become somewhat uniform and dull. Hopefully they can bring back the artsy artistic creative colorful community vibe that used to exist.
Good public bathrooms, very clean. There is a women and men’s bathroom on the main floor and then half the woman’s has been cordoned off for a gender neutral bathroom space.
Train museum is still very cool. To access the train cars themselves you have to go up 2-3 steep steps or a small flight of wooden stairs. Just something to keep in mind if you have mobility concerns."

"Took the train during the Grandmas Marathon with my Mom and Dad to watch my wife run. It was amazing. The crew on the train exceeded all expectations. It was an amazing experience."

"The Duluth Depot is an awesome and historic place to visit for locals and tourists. The summer months are great to visit especially when they have Thomas the Train during the month of August every year, and really cool during the Christmas holiday when they have the Christmas train leaving Fitgers and arriving at the Depot! Plus, the added bonus, the eerie bit awesome spirits that are in the Depot at night I believe as seen on "Ghost Hunters" on TV."
