Vermont and New Hampshire were such gorgeous places to visit last month! This covered bridge was a spot I hadn’t planned on visiting this year but a change of plans for a route to a location led me right to this historic bridge in Cornish, New Hampshire that’s across the river from Windsor, Vermont. How neat that the Connecticut River separates the two states from each other and offers such beauti...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the West Dummerston Covered Bridge's historic charm and picturesque setting. The West River offers a refreshing spot for wading and relaxation, making it a delightful stop for families and photographers alike. However, the lack of handicap access and limited amenities like trash receptacles are noted drawbacks.

"This is quite an impressive covered bridge…which you can still drive through (but not walk through). It’s very long and you can see below that the structure is solid wood! Interesting construction! There’s a parking lot on one end with stairs down to the gravel beach and the river. Beautiful in the fall and not crowded but maybe busy in the summer months (guessing)."

Rob Garren (Purple Poultry Project)

"The bridge is really cool, never really seen one like that. Caution though only one car at a time going one way. The parking area had plenty of spots and a little set of stairs to go down to beach along the river. The river was nice, I didn't take a dip but Leia did. She wanted to go swimming but I didn't bring the long line. Otherwise there was a child about ten-ish who was jumping around and wading in the water there, probably a great spot for a dip on a hot day! The views from down there are indescribable, and a camera just can't do justice to that majesty!"

Craig Cummings

"The river is awesome, family time. There is no access to handicap, no ramp to bring down wheelchairs. There is no dumpster to leave trash. You will have to take it with you."
