Many find it an unexpectedly rewarding part of their trip, offering a deeper understanding of the island's past.

"Unique history of island inside! Free! Scrimshaw was displayed at entrance from local artist, so cool! Owners sent his work back to be displayed temporarily on loan. Didn’t have time to see history of oldest carousel and such. I’ll be back."

Stacy Whitehead

"Interesting exhibits to do with MV. History. A great movie and explanation of the restoration of the interior painting in the Old Whaling Church."

Stephanie Prior

"We stumbled across this museum/gallery and it turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip. The place, while small, explained most of the open questions we had about Martha’s Vineyard, from why they renamed Holmes Hole (was just a bad name) to what happened to the Indians on the island ( some where put into school). There were many artifacts from the area. One thing about MV is all the things that moved. So many building have moved and this place has some information about them."
