The lakes in SJ are divine - Egg Harbor Nature Reserve
Great place all year round. The parking lots can be jammed, and you barely see anyone on the trails as you walk around (great for social distancing). There are multiple loops of trails that meander through the complex, and extend to a loop beyond the fire trail/high power lines).

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Egg Harbor Township Nature Reserve's beautiful, expansive grounds and well-maintained, diverse trails. The lake with its clean, calm water is a highlight for swimming, and the natural scenery is consistently praised. Some wish for more trash receptacles along longer trails.
"Beautiful, expansive area. Trails are well planned, the variety of trees & nature selections are impressive. Cornucopia of trees, grasses, shrubs, water, textures. With hills and valleys all through the park, land height variation allows for scenic overlooks, changing points of view.
A multifaceted park with evolving scenery throughout. Usable lake with grassy beach, small ponds scattered through inner fields. Ample paths allow for bikes, walkers, groups, dogs to share the paths easily.
Smooth walking surfaces are easy for people of all ages and abilities to navigate. For those who welcome challenges, there are steep cut-throughs to join other paths, and places to climb elevations that require some spirit, if you'd like.
Features a circular park design with trails on the outer ring of the central water feature. Open areas are interspersed with trails that have many connecting paths adjoining the central park. Not another monotonous wooded trail with a narrow view of trees that isn't connected and accessible when you must decide on a singular path.
Treasures along the paths, too--hand-painted stones with beautiful messages and colors. Artifacts scattered throughout. A treasure in Atlantic County.
Superbly designed, well-used and popular park. Deservedly so. Spend your day here, and you will feel like you were a part of the world today, connected to both nature and people."

Mian Sta Cruz
"A wonderful park for family recreation. There is an easy and scenic trail, as well as a lake with incredibly warm, clean and calm water - it's very pleasant to swim in! As a bonus, you will find lots of birds and blackberries here."
