"May 2025 Update:
The parking lot has been upgraded, plants and seating. The path has been fixed up and looks great I posted some pix from my visit
========
I had not been here since a few weeks but when I visited today (Aug 22) it looked fantastic. The path is hugely improved making it much easier and saver trail for everyone.
Even at the bottom of the path are now sturdy steps instead of these huge pebbles that were always a hassle to walk over.
Very nice!
Great spot to chill on the beach or start a beach walk. Going in south direction will get you furthest.
Going up north you need to have low tide to make it to Grandview with just your feet wet. Check the tide schedule. Trust me on this. I learned the hard way.
Limited (free) parking currently. Limited street parking available. Expect to park closer to the 101"

"The Leucadia State Beach is a great place to be. It is ideally for surfing, swimming and jogging. It has parking slots available and easy to access. The beaches are endless, very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately not accessible for elderly or handicapped people. Therefore only 4 stars."

"The best part of the Pacific Ocean in this area. Come to watch surfers ride the waves, scale craggy cliffs, get breathtaking views of the ocean at sunrise or sunset, and on Thursdays, be ready for an incredible celebration in the parking lot around sunset-time. This area teaches us to value every day and celebrate life! The ocean and her mystery go on being beautiful whether we notice or not; let's slow down to take time to catch at least one or two visits of the sun sinking to the horizon's edge, the ever changing sky and clouds, and luminiscent water at Beacons. Friendly to four-legged and two-legged beings of all ages. This place absolutely rocks in its beauty and energy!"

The Beacon's Beach Experience
Beyond surfing and relaxing, Beacon's Beach is renowned for its spectacular sunsets. The parking lot area often transforms into a lively spot around sunset, particularly on Thursdays, with locals and visitors gathering to appreciate the view. This communal appreciation for nature's beauty is a recurring theme in visitor feedback, highlighting the beach's ability to foster a sense of connection and appreciation for life. While generally welcoming to all ages and even four-legged friends, it's important to note that accessibility can be a challenge due to the stairs.
Recent upgrades to the parking lot and the access path have significantly enhanced the visitor experience, making the trail safer and more pleasant. The addition of sturdy steps at the bottom has replaced the previously troublesome large pebbles. Despite these improvements, visitors should be aware of potential issues like limited free parking and the occasional presence of small, jumping insects on the sand. Checking the tide schedule is also a key piece of advice for maximizing your beach time and avoiding unexpected wet feet.
Surfing and Ocean Activities
Beyond surfing, the beach is ideal for swimming and jogging along the shoreline. The clean and comfortable sands provide ample space for these activities. However, it's crucial to be mindful of the ocean conditions and tides. As mentioned, high tide can significantly reduce the available sandy area, making beach walks more challenging. Always check the tide charts before planning an extended stroll along the coast.
While the beach is generally family-friendly, the steep access and ocean conditions mean that careful supervision is always recommended for children. The beauty of the Pacific Ocean here is undeniable, offering a refreshing escape and a chance to connect with nature.
