What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Enfield Shaker Museum for its fascinating history, knowledgeable guides, and the peaceful, unique atmosphere of the grounds. The Mary Keane Chapel and the Shakers' craftsmanship are frequently highlighted as exceptional. Some note the lack of modern amenities like air conditioning and elevators, but many find these aspects contribute to the authentic experience.
"Rooms are not air conditioned. It was very warm when we arrived, but once the sun went down, with windows open and the fan provided, we slept comfortably. There are no dark curtains so when the sun comes up at 6:00 am, you will also be up. There is no television. There are no elevators. That being said, we were not bothered by this, but be forewarned if you think you will be bothered.
The tour was wonderful and Lisa was knowledgeable and pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Looking forward to seeing how they restore the other buildings!"

"Really cool history experience, kind people and a spectacular chapel to tour. Do not miss this hidden gem, other buildings were really neat especially the barn and schoolhouse but the chapel was by far the best part. Highly recommend coming here!"

"I stopped here on a whim with my family as we were traveling. Not knowing what to expect, we were honestly blown away by this experience. The Shaker's are a fascinating group to learn about and their craftsmanship is top notch. The tour lasted 1.5 hours and the guide was genuinely knowledgeable and passionate.
This museum is also a Blue Star Museum which means military families are free for entry."
