What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise Maude Kerns Art Center for its inspiring exhibits and its role in supporting local artists. The reasonable admission and dedicated parking are frequently highlighted as positives. However, some patrons have expressed dissatisfaction with class cancellation policies, citing unexpected fees and a lack of empathy from staff in certain situations.
"So incredibly disappointing... If you are interested in creating or purchasing art, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. I was given a generous gift certificate to Maude Kerns, for a pottery class. I registered for the class and promptly realized there was a schedule conflict. I cancelled within 15 minutes of registering (The class was still completely open and over a month out). Not only did Maude Kerns charge me a $50 cancellation fee, they also charged me for the class! This used the entire gift card as well as some of my own money. Keep in mind, there was no exchange for this payment. I never even got to take a class.
When I went in to talk to them about it, they refused to explain why they had charged me so much and they had no empathy towards the situation. It breaks my heart that there are businesses like this in Eugene, OR.
Maude Kerns, I would encourage you to make your policies very clear to new and interested artists. It may be simple for you to take this much money from someone, but that was a lot of money for me and I could have spent it at a more gracious pottery studio. Please consider your actions towards the community moving forward."
