"Joseph doesn't do drugs. No no no. But when I was sitting down on the third floor of the Evanston public library I smelled a whif of something I wish I hadn't. Weed.
Now don't get me wrong, this is a nice library! Architecturally, I have gathered that it is not only a highly utilitarian space but it also lets in natural light in some areas, promoting the absorption of vitamin D. (Is that how it works?!! Don't ask me... heh!) And ya know, you gotta love a library. They do great work for the community.
The tables were nice, too. My daughter and I set up at a nice 4-seat table for 3 hours so I could work on writing my book. Yeah, yeah... I'm a new author in the making 😂😂 you'll believe it when you see it! Coming soon!

My daughter had some juvenile homework. Yeah, I helped her. She's doing well in school, though... don't you worry 😂. She just needs some help with writing sometimes! Her old man is always here to help.

The table was incredibly spacious, and very sturdy. The chairs were an added bonus of comfort. Though it was all wooden, there was something very comfortable that allowed me to sit still for 3 whole hours and just "lock in".
However... like my scandalous introduction said: there were other people there too. We were sitting by the computer stations, and I gotta be honest with you. (What can I do! I'm a reviewer!) There were a few adults walking around who sat at the computers to browse the internet or watch television, but they were making lots of noise. And mind you, this was a relatively quiet space. Multiple times within those three hours there were people who did not plug in their headphones, and they were making verbal sound effects to their media. So if you require silence in order to work... well, you're pushing your luck if you've come to this library buddy 😂. Now it could have been only the third floor antics, but I'll say that overall, this place is safe and very clean. And heck, the loud-ish people were not bothering anyone too much. Besides the guy who smelled like he had just done drugs. Beggars can't be choosers I guess!
The staff is incredibly attentive and helpful, though, and they even have a security guard so I know that despite the interruptions, things will be alright.
Now, I like Evanston. I do! But finding parking is like trying to find water while you're on a 10 day journey in the deep desert. No where to be found! It took a bit to find a spot that was about 5 minutes away from the library, and you have to pay the parking meter with coins that aren't pennies. Keep this in mind if you're coming here in your car!
I probably won't come back here again. But hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Seize the day! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree 😂. (I mighta over-used the cliches... hah! Don't sue me!)
