Hiking today is with the HikeOn Meetup group. (Thank you Janeen!!) We started at Lynch Canyon Open Space parking lot in Fairfield, CA — bring $5 for parking — and hiked about 7 1/2 miles. Other than those in our group, we only saw two other people on the trail, so come on out, East Bay folks! Pack water and snacks, and check yourself for ticks when you get home. The trails are wide open! #hikingt...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the beautiful, green rolling hills, especially in spring, and the peaceful atmosphere with few crowds. The chance to see cows grazing adds a unique charm. However, the lack of shade makes summer visits challenging, and the strict enforcement of parking fees has been a point of contention for some.

"Great spring hike! I imagine it would be pretty brutal during the summer though, almost no shade and no where to refill your water. Decent amount of parking spots, don’t forget to bring $5 cash. The tower trail or middle valley make a loop with the Ken Poerner trail, some parts can be steep and the trail isn’t well marked on Ken Poerner, but beautiful peaceful views! Lots of cute cows too."

"So if you like open fields, rolling hills and cows 🐄 then this is a great place 👍 all of the trails are very well kept up too. Not a lot of trees or shade so make sure to bring water and sunblock. Did most of the tails in one afternoon, mostly easy to do. There was a really nice wind coming from the bay to keep me cool."

Wez So_N_So

"Very nice place to hike, but I made a big mistake. I didn't notice that there is a fee for parking. I got a ticket for $60. I asked the ranger, whose name is Samuel, if I could explain that I didn't see the sign, but she didn't care. I even offered to pay the $6 fee, but she still didn't care. She is not a reasonable person. It seems to me that she is hunting for people who don't pay the fee."
