"3 stars for amazing first hour on the boat. Then, our battery died despite the boat rental telling us it would last 2.5 hours. We didn’t even use the battery the whole hour either. At that point we tried to row back. The current picked up and we started to panic a little. We were losing energy and had no service, no flag, no radio. I tried texting friends to call the rental place for help. We paddled for an hour trying to get back and making little progress. Long beyond the time we intended to be out there so we were dehydrated and ended up with gnarly sunburns because we couldn’t reapply without the boat drifting back. We waved our arms at other boats for help for a good 30 minutes while trying to row intermittently and thankfully eventually the ranger picked us up and towed us back. Ranger was very kind. On our way back there were other boats that needed help too, so this was not just an us thing. Really unfortunate because it was such an incredibly beautiful day tainted and sadly overshadowed by a scary & physically/mentally exhausting experience that could have been avoided. We also had other things planned that day that got cancelled because we were stuck on the lake. Would like to come back but will need to call to ensure they have more safety protocols in place and fully charged batteries"
