I’ve live here my whole life, 25 years, and I didn’t know there was a such thing as “the big duck”...

Go to the lighting of the duck whenever it is safe to hold again! It gets a wreath necklace and there are red bulbs in the eyes that get lit. The big duck is awesome and I glad you found it.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Big Duck's unique charm and novelty, calling it a memorable and fun roadside attraction. While the exterior is a guaranteed hit for photos, some travelers have been disappointed by inconsistent interior hours. Despite this, the gift shop and mini-museum offer a delightful glimpse into local history and unique souvenirs. Reddit

"The lady inside was very knowledgable and kind :)... There is also a skylight by the entrance into the attic where you can see the interior of the ducky (and the spiders/classic attic stuff inside hehe). Memorable experience and great novelty building. We need more whimsy in this world, more fun and unique architecture-- rather than just more giant screens / corporate gray slop.

Long live Long Island Big Ducky 🦆"

"Fun, eclectic, and memorable! The Big Duck is such a quirky roadside stop. You can take lots of fun photos outside with the giant duck, but make sure to go inside too. It’s like a mini museum where you can learn about Long Island’s history and duck farming past. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever out east on Long Island."

"It said it was open on the roadside sign, but the shop was closed for lunch at 2.30pm with no mention of when they'd be back. Really gutted as I've been wanting to visit for ages and was finally visiting Long Island from California. The duck was still awesome but I'd promised my duck-collecting goddaughter I'd bring her something back. Got some great photos for her, so that'll have to do. Really disappointed."
