What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Slauson Tracks serves as a functional Metro A Line station, offering connectivity across Los Angeles. While praised for its accessibility and potential city views, frequent train delays and concerns about safety, especially at night, are significant drawbacks reported by users. The nearby airbrush art scene adds a unique cultural element.
"Slauson station is one of the best spots you can use to get around Los Angeles area. The A line station goes Northbound to Azusa and Northbound to Union station. While it goes Southbound to Long Beach. They also have the time out there to let u know the trains are arriving from either direction. You can also use the map of the city to know which direction you want to go in Los Angeles. They also have an elevator or even an escalator to get up to the top. Everything is close by. Great hub station to utilize. I know now that this spot is okay to come by.
You can always get a metro tap card to move around the whole city I suggest that"

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the station itself is basic, the opportunity to see the city skyline from the platform might be a small point of interest for children. The main draw for families would be the convenience of reaching various attractions along the A Line, but always prioritize safety and plan for potential transit hiccups.
💰 Budget Travelers
While the station itself doesn't offer much in terms of amenities, its value lies in its connectivity. Just be mindful of the reported service delays and potential safety concerns, which might necessitate alternative, potentially more expensive, transport if time or comfort is a priority.
📸 Photography Enthusiasts
However, be prepared for the realities of public transit photography. The station's infrastructure is functional rather than picturesque, and the surrounding area might not be conventionally scenic. Safety perceptions, particularly at night, mean that evening shoots might be less advisable. Focus on capturing the dynamic lines of the train, the urban views, and the colorful airbrush art for the most compelling shots.

Understanding the Metro A Line Experience
Real-time tracking is essential, but even then, unexpected disruptions can occur. The station itself offers basic amenities like covered benches and elevators, but the surrounding area is described as being 'in the middle of nowhere' by some, with a mix of residential and business properties. While the platform can offer surprising views of the city skyline, including glimpses of Downtown LA and the Hollywood sign, the overall transit experience can be a mixed bag of convenience and potential inconvenience due to service issues.
For those relying on the A Line, it's wise to build extra buffer time into your journey and to have backup transportation options in mind, especially if punctuality is critical. The Metro Tap card is the standard for fare payment, and ensuring it's adequately loaded is key to avoiding potential issues.
Safety and Perception at Slauson Tracks
It's important to note that perceptions of safety can be subjective and influenced by various factors. However, when multiple travelers express similar concerns, it's a signal for potential visitors to be extra vigilant. Staying aware of your surroundings, traveling in groups if possible, and sticking to well-lit, populated areas are always good practices.
Despite these concerns, some users have reported feeling safe during their daytime visits and appreciated the convenience of the station for getting around the city. The key takeaway is to be informed and prepared, prioritizing daytime travel if safety is a primary concern.
The Artistic Vibe of Slauson
Local artists often display their work near the station, turning the surroundings into an impromptu open-air gallery. This can be a delightful surprise for travelers, offering a chance to engage with the local creative scene. While the presence of artists may vary, the association of Slauson with airbrush art is a notable aspect of its identity.
If you're interested in unique souvenirs or simply appreciate street art, keeping an eye out for these airbrush artists could be a rewarding part of your visit. It's a reminder that even functional urban spaces can harbor pockets of creativity and local talent.
