Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail's beauty, especially during spring when the antique roses are in full bloom. The well-maintained paved path, ample seating, and accessible features like the walking bridge are frequently praised. It's a peaceful spot for walks, dog-friendly, and offers a pleasant atmosphere even when roses aren't blooming, particularly with its evening lighting and holiday decorations.

"The Wilbourne Antique Rose Trail, with an official address listed as E Violet Ave, is a lovely one-mile trail running parallel to Hwy 59 by downtown Foley. The path is paved and landscaped from E. Section Ave. south to E. Myrtle Avenue with hundreds of antique rose bushes and large shade trees. There are benches and a gazebo if needed for a rest. 🌲 The trail includes Heritage Park, a big green park area with a large concrete pavilion used for pep rallys, concerts and city events. There are brand new bathrooms and a train museum. There is a fantastic walking bridge over Hwy 59 with an elevator. The best time to see all the beautiful roses is spring. And that’s not when we were there last or when I took photos. We went in November. So let me tell you why you should visit at night. 🌹 My photos show that the trail is well lit with large lights. The biggest crime in Foley is shoplifting, and I have always felt very safe walking the trail at night. While I don’t recommend you walk by yourself, I have and still would. During November and December, holiday decorations are all over Heritage Park, brightly lit up at night. It’s cooler at night. Dogs are welcome any time, but you see less of them at night. Keep them leashed because of the proximity to the busy highway. Clean up after your pet too. It’s just a really lovely trail for people and dogs of all ages. 🐶 This review is dedicated to Willi, who was the best dog and loved to walk and sniff at the Rose Trail at night."

"Well-maintained path that connects you from the park up to the horse arena in Foley. There aren’t any water fountains on this route, but there are benches, swings, picnic tables, pet waste bag stations, and trash cans. The city does a good job of keeping up with the landscaping and it’s especially pleasant during the cooler months of the year. Be careful crossing over any streets while using this trail - drivers never seem to be paying attention and are completely oblivious to walkers, cyclists, and furry companions using the trail. There’s a restroom at foley park and the one by the horse arena is also usually unlocked if you have to go and can’t wait!"

"It was so gorgeous and wished I had known about it sooner before I decided to move out of the state. Nice calm walk and beautiful scenery. Lots of flowers and plenty of spots to sit. Nice hangout spot. Shaded picnic area for 1 small family or small group of friends along the trail. Also can walk your dogs on the trail and they provide the dog baggies in a station there. Makes for a good photo shoot location as well. At night I believe it lights up cause we saw lights wrapped around several things there. Also it isn't a dirt road trail. I liked that a lot too."
