However, some note that certain homes require upkeep and parking can be challenging. A visible homeless population in specific areas is also mentioned.
"When I went years ago, the streets were cobblestone, and the houses were pristine. Now, the road is asphalt, and a good number of homes need some upkeep."
Roger Sharp
"I grew up in the historic district. Its has its flaws and wonderful aspects. Ill start with the good. It has beautiful houses. Be sure to check out the clayton house. Also the school house apartments are stunning. An 1800s school transformed into very nice apartments i just dont know if you can get in the building nowadays. Also be sure to check out the little theater ive heard its great.
The cons. There is alot of homeless off 6th and 5th near the church and fire dept. There is a soup kitchen there which is great but sometimes it gets wild they sleep outside there year round all weather. Even though there is a salvation army 100 yards away and some streets they beg and come up to you. Its part of any larger city but very concentrated in this 3 block area. It has gotten better though when i was in school it was alot ruffer and shady in late 90s early 2000s. Progress is progress"
Gary Hudson
"It looks nice but maintenance is slow. There isn’t enough parking and there is no overflow parking. After the move-out inspection they said I would get most of my deposit back, but then they ghosted me and I never got any of it."
