What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Elkhorn Creek offers a beautiful and varied paddling experience, from serene floats to exciting whitewater rapids. Visitors appreciate the natural beauty, wildlife, and fishing opportunities. However, parking can be limited and comes with fees, and water levels need to be checked carefully for optimal conditions.
"Great creek access! We got parking passes included with our Bluegrass Wildwater Association membership, and we spent the day just playing in the rapids. Just past the waterfall, right at the forks of the Elkhorn."
Emily Baker
"Nice spot but $6 for parking is steep considering it is just a dirt path with no upkeep. Also, if it hasn't rained recently, then it is a no go as you just continually scrape the bottom when starting out."
Deric S.
"Parking is very limited at this location and when the river is running at a boatable level, demand can exceed capacity. Do not park on the road at this location as you may be ticketed or towed. On a positive note the put-in fee is a very reasonable $2. A car tag can be purchased from nearby Elkhorn Creek Campground. This is about the only access point to the whitewater section of Elkhorn Creek so be sure to follow the rules, be nice to your fellow boaters, and pay your $2 access fee."
