•SCOTS WHA HAE• Visiting museums in Franklin, on my ZERO day. I know, boring. But honestly, I think back, about those Scots, and Scots-Irish that pioneered and settled a living, and (positive) relationship with the Native Cherokee. How fortunate are we to have an easy “resupply” in these Highlands?

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Scottish Tartans Museum for its passionate staff, extensive tartan collection, and affordable admission. It's described as a rewarding and educational experience, particularly for those interested in Celtic heritage, offering a deep dive into Scottish history and its connection to North Carolina. While not a full-day attraction, it's a highly recommended gem in Franklin.

"I was in town as part of my quest to visit all 100 counties on veteran's day, so it was actually a bit busy. The staff were helping people find their possible family tartans while I browsed the gift shop; however, it was unclear where the actual museum was? I know this probably user error, by I didn't want to interrupt those who were getting help with their ancestry work. I hope to come back on a less busy day and find the actual museum section. 🤣"

The volunteers and staff show incredible dedication, bringing passion and knowledge to the rich history of tartans, kilts, and Highland culture. The beautifully curated displays, with over 500 tartan samples, are a treasure in this small town, offering immense educational value and a warm atmosphere. A must-visit for Celtic heritage enthusiasts!"
